The No. 4 Long Beach City College Vikings baseball team rolled over the No. 8 Mt. San Antonio College 4-3 on Tuesday evening at the Vikings baseball field. With the eighth-consecutive win, the Vikings advance to 16-3 overall and remain perfect in the South Coast Conference with a 7-0 record.

Sophomore pitcher Noel Soto (4-1) earned the win on the hill with only allowing the Mounties to one run on three hits, while striking out five. Freshman pitcher Mitchell Knight came in for his fourth save in the final two innings and held Mt. San Antonio to only two runs on two hits. Knight is on the conference leaderboard with a 1.29 ERA.

The Mounties were first to strike with an RBI single in the top of the third. The Vikings bounced back and loaded the bases for sophomore catcher Diego Altamirano's triple to center field to score in three Vikings.

Altamirano wasn't done yet and hit a sacrifice fly to left field in the bottom of the eighth to score in sophomore short stop David Rivera to hold on to the Vikings' lead 4-1.

In the bottom of the ninth, the Vikings allowed the Mounties to two more runs, before shutting down their offense with a pick-off from Knight to Rivera, then ending the game with the 4-3 conference win.

The No. 4 Vikings will return to the field on Thursday, Mar. 5 at Mt. San Antonio College at 2 p.m.
