Vikings Win Second-Straight Conference Game

The men's basketball team brought in another big win on Friday night in the Hall of Champions with an 87-74 South Coast Conference victory over LA Southwest College. The Vikings are now 14-9 overall and 3-1 in SCC play.

In the first half, freshman guard Jeremiah Sadler was the first to steal the ball from the Cougars and put up the first points on the board. The Cougars tied up the game six minutes into the first half, but Sadler came through with back-to-back shots to put up five more points to command the lead for the Vikings.

Sadler banked 12 points in the first half, with freshman forward Matthew Wooten following closely behind with eight points. Sophomore guard Mark Neal Jr. made himself a threat on the court by going perfect in his shots to finish out the half.

In the second half, sophomore guard William English totaled 10 points for the Vikings. He was perfect in three pointers and in free throws to motivate the lead against LA Southwest. Overall, English and freshman guard Nicolas Stuart lead the team in rebounds with totaling five each.

Sophomore Jordan Heard had a game-high record of eight assists and Sadler finished the game with 18 points.

The Vikings will play again in their fifth South Coast Conference game on Wednesday, Jan. 31 at Cerritos College at 7 p.m.
