Men’s Basketball Continue Winning-Streak Against Rio Hondo

The Long Beach City College men's basketball team won their fourth-consecutive game against Rio Hondo College 83-73. With the win, the Vikings advance to 13-2 overall. Freshman guard Jace Bass led a career-high record with scoring 34 points against the Roadrunners.

The Vikings fell behind in the first half of the game and we're trying to catch up to the Roadrunners the entire first half. The Roadrunners had their largest lead of nine points after five minutes. Bass carried the team with 17 points and had three rebounds and one assist. Rio Hondo then closed out the half leading the Vikings 35-31.

In the second half of the game, the Vikings were ready to take over and tumbled Rio Hondo by scoring 52 points. Sophomore guard Jamiu Akinbile and freshman guard Kester Ofoegbu each had 12 points against Rio Hondo in the second half. The Vikings were on fire as they were 90.5% at the free-throw line in the second half of the game.

Overall, sophomore guard Jordan Heard and Bass totaled seven rebounds and had four assists each. The Vikings finalized the 83-73 win over Rio Hondo and will return to action on Jan. 11 at LA Trade-Tech at 7 p.m.
