Men’s Cross Country: Vikings back at State Championships for second straight season

The Long Beach City College men's cross country team will be making its second consecutive trip to the State Championship meet following its 16th place finish at the Southern California Regional Championships on Saturday at Mission Bay Park in San Diego.

LBCC totaled 413 points and was led by sophomore Gerardo Salazar (Lakewood HS). He cleared the four-mile course with a time of 21:51.23 to finish in 42nd place. Freshman Jared Jones (Loyola HS) was up next for the Vikings in 84th place at 22:29.69 and was followed closely by sophomore Elias Galvan (San Pedro HS) in 87th place at 22:34.76.

Mt. San Antonio College won the team title with a score of 82 points while Michael Teran of San Bernardino Valley College ran 20:31.15 to win the men's individual championship.

The 2015 California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Cross Country State Championship is set for November 21 at Woodward Park in Fresno. The men's four-mile event is scheduled for 11 a.m. with the women's race starting at 10 a.m.
