The No. 5 Long Beach City College softball team took down the No. 13 Fullerton College Hornets 1-0 with a walk-off win in extra innings. With the win, the Vikings improve their record to 28-11 overall.

Sophomore pitcher Daisy Torres stunned in the circle as she zoned in on the Hornets and only allowed them to six hits, while striking down five. Torres was unstoppable as she was laser focused and aggressive with every pitch she threw.

Freshman catcher Jaylene Ross was the star of the show as she went three-for-four at-bat and was the final run for the Vikings.

After seven scoreless innings, and several breath holds, the Vikings had enough and loaded the bases in the bottom of the eighth with singles from Ross and sophomore shortstop Jade Wittman. Sophomore third baseman Illeana Rivera was up next at the dish and was walked to first to shift everyone else into scoring position.

Freshman designated player Gladys Garcia was up next and hit a hard groundout to second to score in Ross and take Game 1 with the 1-0 walk-off win.

Game 2 is tomorrow at 12 p.m. at the Long Beach City College Softball Complex.
