Long Beach Women's Swimming & Diving Places 11th at Mt. SAC Invite

The Long Beach City College women's swimming & diving squad competed in the Mt. SAC Invitational this past weekend in Walnut, CA for their first official meet. The Vikings placed 11th overall out of 17 participants and featured seven top-10 finishes including a top-finish in the 50 Back by freshman Samantha Wooley.

Wooley saw her name land in the top-10 four times over the course of the meet which was highlighted by her gold-medal placing in the 50 Back. She touched the wall at a time of 29.67 which was six one-hundredths of a second better than the second-place finisher. She continued on to place fifth in the 50 Free with a time of 25.67, while adding a sixth place finish in the 50 Fly (29.19) and a 10th-place finish in the 100 Free (57.91).

Freshman Cori Reynolds impressed in her Viking debut as well by earning a trio of top-10 finishes. Her best mark was in the 50 Breaststroke where she earned a second-place finish with a time of 34.64. Reynolds continued on to earn a pair of ninth-place showings in the 100 Breaststroke (1:17.35) and the 200 Breaststroke (2:50.82).

The Vikings will compete in their first conference tri-meet on Friday, March 3rd as they face off against Cerritos College and Chaffey College. The meet is set to begin at 12:30 p.m.
