Women's Volleyball: Vikings rally from 2-0 deficit but fall in five to Pasadena

After dropping the first two sets to No. 20 state-ranked Pasadena City College, Long Beach City College rallied to win the next two but ultimately lost in five sets (25-20, 25-23, 23-25, 19-25, 15-12) to the Lancers at home on Friday night.

The South Coast Conference loss dropped Long Beach to 7-11 overall and 4-5 in conference play.

"I'm very proud of my team for not giving up and getting us all the way back to a fifth set," said head coach Suzie Witmer. "I wish the outcome would have been different but I know they gave it their all on the court tonight."

LBCC has numerous outstanding statistical performances on this night. Sophomore Lauren Moreno (Wilson HS) had a big match for the Vikings as she posted 17 kills and 22 digs. Sophomore Andrea Morales (Los Alamitos HS, pictured) also had an impressive night for LBCC with 15 kills, 15 digs, and three aces.

Sophomore setter Melissa Yepez (Paramount HS) totaled a season-high 60 assists and 10 digs. And Michaelah Brown (Paramount HS) had seven blocks to go with 12 kills.

Nora To'omalatai led Pasadena (10-8, 8-1 SCC) with 24 kills.

Long Beach returns to action on Wednesday (Nov 6) when it hosts Mt. San Antonio College in a 6 p.m. conference match.
