Volleyball Comes to a Close as Vikings Fall to the Pirates in SoCal Regionals

The Long Beach City College women's volleyball team fell to the Orange Coast College Pirates 3-2 on Wednesday evening in the SoCal Regional Playoffs in the Building Q Gym. With the loss, the Viking end their season with a 20-8 record.

The Vikings took the first set 25-17, but then dropped the second set 25-21. They bounced back in the third set 25-20, but then the Pirates caught up in the fourth set to take the 27-25 win. It all boiled down to the fifth and final set, where the Vikings were ahead, but the Pirates caught up and took the 16-14 win to end the Vikings' season.

Sophomore outside hitter Brooke Earkman led the Vikings with 30 points and had 17 digs. Sophomore outside hitter Anisa Lopez was just as fierce as she totaled 24 points with seven digs and two service aces. Freshman setter Jillian Petnicki worked hard as she totaled 59 assists and had two service aces.

The Vikings will return next Fall.
