Baseball Takes Down Compton College with 9-5 Victory

The Long Beach City College baseball team took down the Compton College Tartars with a resounding 9-5 victory in the opening clash of their South Coast Conference showdown. With this win, the Vikings hold a 25-10 overall record, boasting an impressive 14-5 standing within the conference ranks.

Dylan Proost (6-2) emerged as the victor on the mound, showcasing control as he limited the Tartars to a mere two earned runs on four hits, while fanning three of their batters in the opening six innings.

The Tartars were first on the board, seizing upon two Viking missteps to tally three runs in the first inning. However, the Vikings swiftly rallied, with Caleb Brandon driving in Davis Grawey with an RBI single in the third inning.

In a pivotal moment in the bottom of the fourth, the Vikings rallied, loading the bases and unleashing a relentless barrage of runs. Ryan Geck, Brett Abudayeh, AJ Quezada, Grawey, and Xander McLaurin all charged home, propelling their forces to a commanding 6-3 lead over the Tartars.

With momentum firmly on their side, the Viking warriors continued their offensive onslaught in the sixth inning, as Olin Snakenborg unleashed a thunderous 3 RBI home run to left field, driving their tally to nine runs.

Though the Tartars added two more runs to their tally in the ninth inning, the Vikings finalized the game with a 9-5 victory.

The Long Beach City College baseball squad will be back on the field against Compton College for game two on Thursday, April 18 at 2 p.m.
