After climbing one position in the most recent California Community College Men's Volleyball Coaches Association (CCCAA) poll, No. 5 Long Beach City College played host to the Antelope Valley College Marauders on Wednesday night. The Vikings sailed to a three-set victory and pushed their winning streak to three games.

Long Beach featured a well-balanced attack in the victory, but freshman outside Cyrus Fa'alogo (Salt Lake City, UT) continued to paced the squad on offense with nine kills. He only played the opening two sets. Sophomore outside Taylor Dorr (Kona, HI) backed his efforts with seven kills in two sets of action, while freshman opposite Noah Taitano (Carson, CA) hammered home six kills.

The setting duties were split once again with primary setter Gary Trejo (Downey, CA) recording 16 assists. Sophomore Jayce Ashment (Gilbert, AZ) backed him with nine assists while finding the hardwood on a nice drop shot kill.

"We are just trying to get better in every match," said Head Coach Jonathan Charette, who is in his sixth year at the helm for the Vikings. "Every day in practice and every set – just focusing on getting better."

The Vikings utilized a number of players that featured familiar names in sophomore middles Eli Garcia (Bellflower, CA) and Elai Mama (Moreno Valley, CA), along with relatively new faces in freshman Alan Zayala (Long Beach, CA) and sophomore Joshua Tobin (Long Beach, CA).

"I had the opportunity to use my bench today and those guys have been killing it in practice. I think we are going to need our entire team. Everybody is going to have to be ready to carry the load of our big goals."

The Vikings (6-3) look to make it four-in-a-row by heading up North to face off against No. 10 Santa Barbara City College on Friday, March 3rd at 6 p.m.
