Vikings Fall to East Los Angeles College 7-2 in Conference Action

The Long Beach City College Vikings fell to the East Los Angeles College Huskies 7-2 on Tuesday evening in their second South Coast Conference game. With the loss, the Vikings drop to 3-2 overall and 1-1 in the SCC.

Sophomore pitcher Daisy Garcia (2-2) took the loss in the circle with four earned runs, on six hits, while striking down two in 4 innings of work.

The Vikings were first on the board with and RBI single from sophomore third baseman Illeana Rivera to bat in freshman center fielder Alia Marquez.

The Huskies answered back with an RBI single in the top of the fourth and then rallied in the fifth inning with five runs.

In the bottom of the fifth, the Vikings scored in sophomore designated hitter Jade Wittman from an RBI ground out to creep in on the Huskies, but then East Los Angeles hit a home run in the sixth inning to seal the 7-2 win over Long Beach.

The Vikings will be back on the field on Thursday, Feb. 10 at LA Harbor College for their third conference game at 3 p.m.
