Julio Jimenez enters his 12th season in 2024 with the LBCC Vikings. Jimenez has been with the Vikings for the past ten years as assistant coach of the men’s track & field team and the head coach of the men’s cross country team. He has sent teams and or individuals to the State Championships in each one of those years. Most recently in Fall 2021, Jimenez led his men to a 2nd place team finish in the South Coast Championship sparking a team run and appearance to the CCCAA Cross Country State Championships. He also served as an integral part to helping the women’s program earn a State Meet appearance in the same season. In 2021, the men’s and women’s programs achieved their highest combined finishes in over 2 decades.

Prior to LBCC, Jimenez began his coaching career at Chico State where he also competed as a successful student athlete in their highly traditional cross country and distance program. Before his time at Chico State, Jimenez competed locally at El Rancho High School in Pico Rivera where he was a 2005 CIF State Championship qualifier in Cross Country. In addition to his Head Coaching Duties, Jimenez also serves as an adjunct instructor in the LBCC Kinesiology Department teaching a variety of Fitness courses. 

Jimenez earned his bachelor’s degree in Exercise Physiology and master’s degree in Kinesiology from Chico State before returning back to Southern California and leading the LBCC Cross Country Programs.
