Marcus Carroll enters his 3rd year in 2023-24 as Director of Track & Field and Cross Country. Along with his duties as Director, he serves as the primary coach for the jumps and multi-events. In his first season, he helped several student-athletes succeed in these events. Freshman LaSalle Jackson became a top triple jumper in the State earning a 3rd place finish at the CCCAA State Meet proclaiming CCCAA All-American honors while Freshman Azjani McGill became a South Coast Conference Champion and a SoCal Regional Champion in the Long Jump under his guidance. In addition to helping these student-athletes, several others shared success in becoming SoCal Regional Finalists in the Multi Events, Triple Jump, and High Jump under his tutelage this past Spring. 

Carroll joins the Vikings after serving as Head Track & Field/Cross Country Coach at Monterey Peninsula College for eight years. In his tenure, he helped guide the Lobos to 11 school records, 10 All-American finishes, and over 20 All-State finishes.

Prior to his stint at MPC, he was an assistant coach at San Diego Mesa College, where he helped lead the Olympians to three-straight PCAC Conference Championships and sent a number of athletes to the Southern California Regional and CCCAA State Track and Field Championships.

Carroll is now a USATF Level 2 Certified Coach in multiple disciplines (Jumps, Combined Events, Sprints/Hurdles/Relays, and Endurance). He is also a USA Level 2 Certified Weightlifting Coach. His personal athletic achievements include being a finalist in the long jump and triple jump at the NCAA National Championships, All-CCAA honoree in the long jump, triple jump, 100 meters, 400-meter relay, and 1,600-meter relay, PCAC/Foothill Conference Champion in the long jump and triple jump, San Diego County leader and High School State Meet Finalist in the long jump, and state champion in the 400-meter relay.

A 2008 graduate of California State University, Los Angeles, Carroll has a bachelor's degree in Interpersonal Communication, Language, and Social Interaction, and he received his master's degree in Physical Education with an emphasis in Coaching Education from Ball State University in 2015. He and his wife, Nina, have two children, Mica, and Marcina.
