Freshman Daisy Velasquez (pictured) smacked a three-run home run while sophomore Brianna Alvarez had 3 RBI to lead Long Beach City College to an 8-5 South Coast Conference win over visiting LA Harbor College on Tuesday. LBCC improved to 8-7 overall and 3-2 in SCC play.

Softball: Vikings drop 11-5 South Coast Conference game at El Camino

Long Beach City College couldn’t hold a 5-3, fourth-inning lead and ultimately fell by a final score of 11-5 in a South Coast Conference game at El Camino College on Thursday. The loss dropped Long Beach to 6-7 overall and 2-2 in conference play.

Facing her former team for the first time, Long Beach City College head coach Megan Martinez’ Vikings totaled 15 hits in a 16-0 rout of El Camino College Compton Center on Tuesday at LBCC. The South Coast Conference victory improved Long Beach to 6-6 overall and 2-1 in SCC play.

Softball: Third inning dooms Long Beach is 11-3 loss at No. 5 Cypress

Long Beach City College closed out its non-conference schedule with an 11-3 five-inning loss at No. 5 state-ranked Cypress College on Friday. Cypress erupted for 10 unearned runs in the third inning to put the game out of reach.
