George Marmion, a 1932 graduate of the college who was one of the athletic department’s most ardent supporters in the community. One of the organizers of the LBCC Alumni Athletic Council in 1938, he was instrumental for 17 years in coordinating the Alumni-Varsity football game. Marmion also managed the Alumni Work Fund, which provided pay to student-athletes while they worked on campus.
