Jim Stangeland, who guided Viking football teams to national championships in 1960, 1962 and 1964 while posting a career record of 59-12-3 from 1957-64. He also worked with seven individuals as an assistant track coach that went on to win state titles. A member of the California Community College Football Coaches Hall of Fame, Stangeland served as an assistant coach with the University of Southern California (1967 national champions) and as head coach at California State University, Long Beach from 1969-72.
