Passing of Former Hall of Champions Inductee, Keith Cordes

Long Beach City College Athletics is sad to announce the recent passing of Keith Cordes, former football athlete and Hall of Champions inductee.

Cordes was inducted into the Hall of Champions in 2007 for football. He was a starting offensive and defensive lineman for the 1957 and 1958 football teams at LBCC.  He went on to play at University of Washington (UW) in 1959 and 1964, playing for the 1960 Rose Bowl Championship team.

The years in between saw him in the military, where he also played football and made the All-European teams in 1961 and 1962.

On the 1964 UW team, he was voted Most Inspirational. He is also a member of the UW Hall of Fame along with his teammates from the 1959 team.

Following his playing days, Cordes was a defensive line coach at Long Beach Jordan High School (1968-72) and Long Beach State University (1970) before completing a 24-year career as a FBI agent (1972-96).

He was a past president of the Century Club and helped fundraise for LBCC and LBSU.  He loved sports, but he loved even more the athletes and fans involved in sport.
