Vikings Athletic Week in Review- 3/28/2022: Softball Battles for No. 1 Against Mt.SAC, Swim Dominates at Conference Meet

Softball-No. 2 Softball Battles No. 1 Mt. SAC in Tough Loss

The No. 2 Long Beach City College softball team suffered a tough 3-1 loss to the No. 1 Mount San Antonio College Mounties on Friday afternoon at the Vikings Softball Complex.

Sophomore pitcher Daisy Torres (16-5) battled for seven innings as she only allowed the Mounties to three runs on seven hits while striking down three. Torres currently sits on top of the conference leaderboard with 16 wins.

The Vikings were first on the board to lead the Mounties with sophomore Jade Wittman scoring on a Mountie wild pitch. Wittman did not disappoint, as she was 1-3 at-bat, with one run and one walk for the game.

The Mounties started to climb back with an RBI single in the top of the second to tie the game. The Vikings defense held the Mounties for three more scoreless innings, but then Mt.SAC scored a run in the top of the fifth and then one more in the sixth to take the 3-1 conference victory.
