The Long Beach City College women's beach volleyball team continued to impress this Tuesday after facing off against the Ventura College Pirates and the Cypress College Chargers in California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Southern California Regional Playoff at the Ventura Marina. Long Beach remained as consistent as ever by defeating Ventura, 5-0, and Cypress, 4-1, en route to a CCCAA State Playoff berth in the program's first season.

Head Coach Misty May-Treanor helms the squad after her first season in office by coaching the Vikings to a current record of 15-4 that includes both a third-place finish in the Pacific Coast Conference and a regional playoff and state playoff berth.

The Vikings faced off against the Pirates for the first match of the regionals and won via sweep. Sophomore Sarah Miller (Long Beach, CA) and freshman Paige Panter (Southgate, TX) returned to the beach just four days after hauling in a PCAC Individual Championship and completed a match-sweep of Ventura's Tori Hiott and Paris Dosch by the final scores of 23-21 and 21-15.

Sophomore Breana Torres (Long Beach, CA) and freshman Fayleen Valdez (Long Beach, CA) came through with a match sweep as well after playing well in the PCAC Individual Championships by defeating Ventura's Daisy Martinez and Paulina Iverson in two sets by the final scores of 21-16 and 21-13.

Freshman tandem of Jordan Diaz (La Habra, CA) and Marina Adolpho (Long Beach, CA) returned to their winnings ways by defeating Ventura's Mikayala Spears and Brianna Finch in three sets. They were narrowly edged in the first set, but charged back to win the final two sets by the scores of 21-8 and 15-9.

The Vikings followed with a 4-1 victory over the Chargers. Miller and Panter completed their second sweep of the day by defeating the Charger's number ones by the final scores of 21-12 and 21-14. Diaz and Adolpho completed a set sweep, while Torres and Valdez did the same.

LBCC's fourth flight made up of freshman Valeria Payan (Pacoima, CA) and sophomore Geraldine Poon (Long Beach, CA) earned a three-set win after dropping the first set 13-21, but coming back to win the final two sets with scores reading 21-15 and 15-11.
