Men’s Basketball’s Kester Ofoegbu Named South Coast Conference MVP

After an 18-10 record for the season and a third place conference finish, it was recently announced that three men's basketball athletes were recognized with All-South Coast Conference honors.

Sophomore guard Kester Ofoegbu was awarded as the conference Most Valuable Player as he averaged 22.3 points, with 9.3 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.2 steals per game. He was on top of the conference leaderboard with 59.1 field goal percentage to help propel the Vikings to victory throughout the season.

Sophomore guard Aaron Jelks received his second All-SCC recognition with being an offensive asset to the Vikings with averaging 13.1 points with 5.8 assists, 4.1 rebounds and 2.1 steals per game.

Sophomore Matthew Schmidt earned himself a spot on the Honorable Mention list with averaging 6.7 rebounds and 11.9 points per game. Schmidt was a force in the paint for the Vikings as he totaled 188 rebounds for the season.

The Long Beach City College men's basketball team will return next season.
