Men’s Soccer: Long Beach, El Camino play to scoreless draw

Ninety minutes of soccer wasn't enough to decide a winner as Long Beach City College and visiting El Camino College played to a scoreless draw (0-0) on Tuesday at LBCC.

The tie in South Coast Conference action moved Long Beach's record to 4-7-3 overall and 2-2-3 in conference play.

El Camino (6-5-3, 4-2-1 SCC) controlled the tempo of the first half and outshot the Vikings by a 6-4 margin. But LBCC turned it around in the second half to come out ahead 9-3 in shots and totaled a 5-2 second-half advantage in corner kicks.

Late in the contest, the Vikings had a pair of great breakaway runs, but finishing shots by freshmen Manuel Larios in the 81st minute and Jon-Eric Krans in the 84th minute sailed just wide of the open side of the goal.

Sophomore Jorge Becerra posted three saves in goal for the Vikings while the Warriors' Nolan Dean had two saves in the shutout.

The Long Beach men return to action on Friday (Oct. 19) when they travel to East Los Angeles College for a 6 p.m. SCC game.
