Long Beach City College Men's Soccer Head Coach Cameron Beaulac has announced that six members of his program have signed National Letters of Intent to continue their academic and athletic careers at four-year universities. Jose Garcia (Artesia HS) has signed with Cal State Fullerton. Robert Burgos (Millikan HS), Erik Carbajal (Lakewood HS), and Angel Ayala (Cabrillo HS) all signed with Cal State Dominguez Hills. Rafael Arroyo (Poly HS) signed with University of the Cumberlands. And Max Seraphim (Palos Verdes HS) will move on to Chapman University in Orange.

The six men's soccer standouts, along with LBCC's Football's De'Quan Hampton, were joined by Long Beach Community College District President-Superintendent Eloy Ortiz Oakley, Vice President of Academic Affairs Terri Long, Dean of Student Affairs and Athletics Connie Sears, and LBCC Director of Athletics Joe Cascio, as well as family, friends, and college staff at a signing day ceremony at the campus this morning.

Today marked the opening day of the regular signing period for community college and high school football, soccer, and water polo student-athletes that allows them to officially commit to four-year colleges.

"I am proud of the hard work that these young men have demonstrated on the training field, game field, and most importantly, in the classroom," said Beaulac. "We should have more making their final decision within the next month or two."

Garcia, heading south to Orange County, was a two-time first-team All-South Coast Conference selection as a forward for the Vikings during the 2013 and 2014 seasons. He was a two-year captain, two-time team most valuable, and led LBCC in goals both seasons.

Cal State Fullerton competes at the NCAA Division I level and is a member of the Big West Conference.

Burgos was a two-year starter at defense back for the Vikings in 2012 and 2013. As a sophomore, he earned all-conference honors and was named the team's defensive player of the year.

Carbajal was also a two-year starter for LBCC (2013-14) and earned all-conference honors this past season. He was clutch when the Vikings needed him, as he scored game-winning goals against No. 4 nationally-ranked Mt. San Antonio College and Pasadena City College.

Ayala sat out the 2014 season with LBCC after transferring from Hope International University. As a grayshirt, he was able to train with the Vikings during the year.

Cal State Dominguez Hills is located in Carson. The Toros compete at the NCAA Division II level and are a member of the California Collegiate Athletic Association.

Arroyo is heading the farthest of the group, going to Williamsburg, Kentucky. He started 20 of 21 games for LBCC this season and was named the squad's most improved player.

Cumberlands is a member of the Mid-South Conference and competes at the NAIA level.

Rounding out the list of transfers in Seraphim. Like Ayala, he sat out the 2014 season with LBCC as a grayshirt. Prior to his arrival in Long Beach, he played at Hawai'I Pacific University in 2013.

Chapman competes at the NCAA Division III level and is a member of the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Association.

With six already signed and up to five more expected to ink agreements, this is one of the largest group of transfers from the LBCC men's soccer team in recent memory. The 2014 Vikings compiled an 8-5-8 overall record and advanced to the Southern California Regional Playoffs.
