Menjivar Rallies to Finalize Vikings' 3-2 Win over Huskies

The Long Beach City College men's soccer team took down the East Los Angeles College Huskies in a 3-2 showdown on Tuesday evening at the LBCC Soccer Field. With the win, the Vikings advance to 9-2-2.

Sophomore forward Carlos Maldonado was the first Viking to get on the board with the assist from sophomore forward Steven Espinoza. Then freshman midfielder Jaelyn Agu scored his first goal of the season with a straight arrow to the left side of the net to close out the half 2-0.

The Huskies caught up in the second half by score back-to-back goals at the 51 minute and 57 minute marks. Finally, after trying mercilessly, sophomore midfielder Ruben Menjivar received a beautiful pass in the air from Maldonado and freshman midfielder Sergio Flores to smash the header into the left side of the cage to take home the 3-2 win.

The Vikings will play again on Friday, Oct. 19 at Rio Hondo College at 4 p.m.
