Five Men's Soccer Athletes Move on to Next Level

Five men's soccer athletes are set to continue their athletic and academic endeavors at four-year universities.

 

Alex Moreno                     CSUDH                    Division II            2020                       Winger

Moreno was an All-South Coast Conference recipient in the 2019 season. Moreno is an explosive winger, who was in the top five on the team this past season in goals, assists, and total points. He should fit in well with the Toros, where he will be joining two other Vikings, including their second leading scorer during the 2019 season, Steven Espinoza from the Vikings 2018 squad.

The Toros compete in the California Collegiate Athletic Association and are led by second-year head coach, Eddie Soto.

Mario DeLaTorre              Davis & Elkins College   Division II            2020                       Goalkeeper

DeLaTorre started in 26 games in his two-year career at Long Beach City College and recorded five shutouts. He was instrumental in the team's second place finish in the South Coast Conference in 2018, and in the top half of the 2019 season. DeLaTorre is a very dedicated, hard-working keeper with quickness and good hands. He will be a true asset for the Senators.

The Senators compete in the Mountain East Conference and are led by first-year head coach, Dean Johnson.

Miles Hodgson                 Sonoma State Uni.          Division II            2020                       Defender

Hodgson redshirted his 2019 season, and named the Vikings Redshirt of the Year. He was the team's top defender during the 2018 campaign, leading the team to a second place finish in conference. He started in fifteen of the games, while recording one goal and one assist from his left back position. Hodgson has exception skill and pinpoint passing on both short and long balls.

The Seawolves compete in the California Collegiate Athletic Association and are led by 30-year head coach, Marcus Ziemer.

Guillermo Fajardo           Hope University               NAIA                     2020                       Defender

Fajardo played 16 games during the 2017 season, and then went to El Salvador, where he was a member of the U20 National team. Hope University Assistant Coach Bob Oseguera stated, "We know we are getting a player who knows how to play the game the right way from their time at LBCC and from Coach Beaulac. Hope has had nothing but success from former Viking players."

The Royals compete in the Golden State Athletic Conference and are led by 11th-year head coach, Joe Lurker.

Alfredo Garcia                   CSUDH                            DII                          2020                       Midfielder

Garcia led the team in assists and was the Vikings third overall scorer during the 2016 campaign. He will joining the Toros and playing for Head Coach Soto, and assistant coach Eddie Garcia, who both played for Coach Beaulac in the past.
