Men’s Soccer’s Jaelyn Agu Signs with David Elkins College

Sophomore midfielder Jaelyn Agu put pen to paper when he signed his letter of intent with Division II David Elkins College of the Mountain East Conference in West Virginia, which is led by Head Coach Dean Johnson. He is the second Viking to commit to David Elkins as goalkeeper Mario De La Torre signed with them the previous season.

During his first season with the Vikings, he was an All-Conference selection and won the coaches award. Then in his second season in 2019, Agu was named team captain, earned All-Conference tournament honors, and won the coaches award for the second consecutive year.

Agu stated, "I want to thank the entire soccer coaching staff at LBCC for my development as a player and as a growing young man off and on the pitch. I also want to thank the athletic trainers for keeping my body at peak condition. These years at LBCC have been more than a blessing, and although it hasn't always been easy, God continues to bring me through the storm."

"I am so happy for Jaelyn", said LBCC Head Coach Cameron Beaulac. "He is one of the hardest working players that I have had the privilege to coach at Long Beach. His efforts have made it possible for him to attain his goal of playing at a four-year university. The fact he is doing so on scholarship at a high level program, and going with his AA degree as well, just proves that hard work, dedication, and commitment pay off, both in the classroom and on the field."
