Men’s Cross Country: Former Viking Espinoza finishes third at LB Marathon

Former Long Beach City College men's cross country standout Alberto Espinoza finished in third place at Sunday's 29th annual Long Beach International City Bank Marathon. Espinoza, running in his first-ever marathon, was the top local finisher at the event and clocked in with a time of 2:22.37 on the scenic 26.2 mile course through the city.

Espinoza said was proud to represent LBCC and the city of Long Beach, according to the Long Beach Press-Telegram, as he wore his black Vikings racing singlet from 2007.

Espinoza was LBCC's top runner that year and finished in 21st place at the California Community College Athletic Association State Championships. Espinoza also took 11th place at the Southern California Championships.

Frank Corrigan of Port Costa, California was the men's winner with a time of 2:24.51 followed by Mohamed Fadil of Morocco at 2:28.24.
