Track & Field’s Rylan Gray Named Male Scholar Athlete of the Year

Long Beach City College Athletics is proud to announce track & field's Rylan Gray being named the 2020 South Coast Conference Male Scholar of the Year and earning a spot on the 2020 California Community College Athletics Association (CCCAA) Male Scholar Athlete Honor Roll.

Gray graduated with Distinction with a 3.845 GPA this past spring with an Associate of Arts Degree for transfer in Political Science to UCLA.

In his freshman year at LBCC in 2019, Gray competed at the Southern California Regional Championships in the long jump and took eighth place at South Coast Conference Finals in the long jump. He also made the CCCAA Men's Track and Field Academic All-State Team in 2019.

During his sophomore year in 2020, he hit his personal best in the long jump at the Pasadena Invitational before the season was canceled.

Gray joins the following former LBCC student-athletes as CCCAA Scholar Athlete Honor Roll members:

2016 - Evan May (Baseball) – CCCAA Male Scholar Athlete of the Year

2016 - Peyton Ballard (Women's Water Polo / Women's Swim and Dive)

2015 - Ashley Diaz (Women's Water Polo / Women's Swim and Dive)

The nine LBCC student-athletes honored over the past six years is the most of any CCCAA member institution (110 colleges).
