Track Places Top Finishes at Cerritos Invitational

The Long Beach City College track and field team competed at the Cerritos Invitational over of the weekend.

The men's team saw two first place finishes with freshman Jonathan Perez-Cortez in the 800m race with an overall time of 1:59.17, and freshman Leonardo Acevedo in the 1500m with a time of 4:14.13.

The men's 4x400-relay team (freshmen Xavier Evans, Azjani McGill, Jonathan Perez-Cortez, Armando Padilla) took second overall and made the State 'B' Qualifying Standard with a time of 3:23.22.

Freshman Wesley Easter placed third in the high jump with a 1.85m (6'1), and freshman LaSalle Jackson took third place in the triple jump and made the SoCal Auto Qualifying Standard with a 14.69m (48'2).

The throwers had three fourth place finishes with freshman Tully Farmer in the shot put, freshman Joseph Munoz in the discus, and sophomore Jordan Ikeda in the javelin.

For the women's team, freshman Ailene Rios took second place in the 800m with a 2:36.05 and the 1500m. Freshman Radiance Lindsey took fourth overall in the 100m hurdles with a time of 16.29.

The women's 4 x 400m relay took second place (freshmen Taj Grant, Radiance Lindsey, Jasmine Weston, Desiree Hansford) took second overall with a time of 4:27.00.

For the throwers, freshman Casey Davis took third in the shot put with a 10.68 (35'0) mark. Freshman Serenity Lindemans also took third in the javelin with a 23.49 (77'1).

The LBCC track and field team will be back in action on Saturday, Feb. 26 at the Rossi Relays at Claremont Mudd Scripps.
