Women’s Basketball’s Lopez Named SCC MVP

Recently it was announced that the Long Beach City College women's basketball team named six athletes to the All-South Coast Conference selections. Freshman guard Amanda Lopez was named Tri-MVP, with Cerritos and LA Harbor athletes, while sophomore forward Navi Huskey and freshman forward Aaliyah Carter were selected to the First-Team. Sophomore center Ivori Scott, freshmen guards Carla Cervantes and Rosemary Lazereno were named to the Second-Team.

Lopez earned a spot for the Tri-MVP award by averaging 14 points per game and led the South Coast Conference with 6.3 assists per game.

Huskey was named to the First-Team list for the second-consecutive season as she left the South Coast Conference with averaging 15.4 rebounds per game and hit about 15 points per game. Carter was also named to the First-Team list with averaging 12 points per game, 10 rebounds per game and 2 steals per game.

For her second All-Second-Team selection honors, Scott totaled about 10 rebounds per game, 2.3 blocks per game and led the conference with 50.3% FG. Cervantes and Lazareno rounded out the Second-Team accolades for the Vikings as they each averaged over seven points per game.

The Vikings recently fell in the third round of the SoCal Regional Playoffs, but will be back again next season. To view the rest of the All-SCC selections, please visit here.
