During the 2019-20 season under Brent as the interim head coach, the Vikings were named the South Coast Conference Champions with a perfect 10-0 record. After being named the SCC Coach of the Year, the Vikings finished the season 20-9 record, a playoff berth and were ranked No. 14 in the state. Brent was named the official head coach for the 2020-21 season. 

As an Assistant Coach (2014 – 2019), Brent helped led the Vikings to a 116-60 (.659) overall record. The Vikings won 4 SCC South Championships and made a CCCAA playoff appearance 5 consecutive years. Brent post development program, has helped led 3 post players to Division 1 Universities; Darshana Taafua (Long Beach State), Miranda Martinez (Long Beach State), and Jessica Njoku (Florida A&M). Brent played a major role in the recruiting, preparing for games, reviewing games and opponents tendencies.

Prior to coming to LBCC, Brent was the Varsity Head Coach at Compton High School (2011 – 2013), Coach Brent took a struggling program that went 5- 54 the previous three years, to respectable team that finished 38-32 (.542) in three years under Coach Brent. In that span, Brent received the Harry J. Moore Coach of the Year Award, won two Christmas tournaments, made it to the CIF quarterfinals playoffs, developed five student-athletes that made 1st team, and improved overall academic and athletic performance significantly.

In 2009, Brent helped led L.A Harbor Men’s basketball team who was 7-58 in the span of two seasons, to a team who finished 12-14. Brent assisted in practices, and conditioning, while helping develop the squad's post players.      

In 2008, Brent walked on as a volunteer coach at Morningside High School. There he helped develop the post players. Morningside finished that year 25-5 overall record, a league championships and a playoff appearance.

Prior to Morningside, Coach Brent founded Inner City Elites (I.C.E), which was a youth basketball organization targeted at inner city, underprivileged kids, particularly within the Inglewood and Los Angeles area. This program helps inner city youth to build the fundamental skills needed to succeed both on and off the court. Coach Brent has also served as a camp instructor at Point Guard College (2010– present), Magic Johnson Camp (1994 -1997) and the John Wooden Basketball Clinic (1996-1997).

As a player himself, Coach Brent attended Crenshaw High School, where he won three City Championships and two State Championships with a record of 77-11 (.875), under basketball legendary coach, Willie West. Brent was recognized with the Outstanding Student Athlete award, three years in a row.  During that span, he competed against future NBA players like, Baron Davis, Lamar Odom, Tayshaun Prince, Ron Mercer, and Stephen Jackson to name a few.

After high school, Coach Brent attended Metropolitan State College of Denver where he played under former NBA Coach Mike Dunlap. That year, the team set a school record finishing 25-5 and advancing to the NCAA Division II Sweet Sixteen.

After Brent's freshman year, he transferred to Prairie View A&M University to play under Coach Elwood Plummer. However, a week before his first game versus Tulane University, Brent was in a severe car accident which ended his basketball playing career and ignited a passion for mentorship and coaching. 

Coach Brent earned a Master’s degree in Education from California State University of Dominguez Hills, his bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Education from Prairie View A&M University, served four years in the Army Reserves and is a proud father to Marlie Brent.
