Women's Soccer: Vikings make it six straight wins after shutout of Mt. SAC

The Long Beach City College women's soccer team rolled to its sixth straight win after defeating visiting Mt. San Antonio College 3-0 in a South Coast Conference game on Friday.

Long Beach outshot the Mounties by a narrow 9-6 margin but made the most of its scoring opportunities.

Sophomore Claudia Toledo scored in the 31st minute and sophomore Camilla Veron (54th) and freshman Kylee Daly (82nd) added second-half goals to provide all the offense the Vikings would need.

Toledo got the Vikings on the board late in the first half after she took a pass from freshman Liliana Montano and nailed a shot from 30 yards out to beat Mt. SAC goalkeeper Loren Cerafice.

Veron streaked down the right side of the field after a cross pass from sophomore Denise Martinez before flipping her shot over Cerafice to put the Vikings up 2-0.

Daly received a long cross pass down the left side from Toledo and dribbled around Mt. SAC backup goalie Samantha Olmos as she charged the play and placed her shot in the empty net to close out the scoring for Long Beach.

Freshmen Jeanette DeAnda (60 minutes, 2 saves) and Ashley Buckner (30 minutes, 1 save) combined for LBCC's second shutout of the season.

Long Beach improved to 6-2-0 overall and 2-0-0 in the SCC while Mt. SAC fell to 2-5-1 and 0-2-0.
