Women's Soccer: LBCC wins seventh straight after 5-1 win at Compton

Sophomore forward Claudia Toledo scored two goals to help lead the Long Beach City College women's soccer team to an impressive 5-1 South Coast Conference win at El Camino College Compton Center on Tuesday.

The win was the Vikings seventh straight and improved Long Beach to 7-2 overall and 3-0 in conference play. During LBCC's winning streak, it has outscored its opponents by a 23-5 margin.

Toledo opened the scoring in the 12th minute off an assist from sophomore forward Denise Martinez.

In the 20th minute, Martinez was taken down in the penalty box and the Vikings were awarded a penalty kick. Toledo buried the PK to put Long Beach up 2-0.

Freshman forward Kylee Daly gave Long Beach a 3-0 lead with her breakaway goal in the 35th minute off an assist from freshman midfielder Vanessa Calvillo.

Calvillo earned her second assist on a goal by Martinez in the 49th minute and freshman forward Priscilla Cortez closed out the scoring with her unassisted goal in the 56th minute.

Long Beach returns to action on Friday (Oct 7) at 4:15 p.m. when it faces rival Cerritos College in a showdown for first place in the SCC.
