Swimming & Diving: Carrillo, Rojas set LBCC records at SCC Championships

A pair of Long Beach City College school records were broken on Friday at the second day of action at the South Coast Conference Swimming & Diving Championships at Chaffey College.

For the LBCC men, sophomore Michael Carrillo swam 1:41.69 to win the 200-yard freestyle and break Gary O'Brien's record time of 1:42.53 set in 1989.

For the women, sophomore Jackie Rojas clocked in at 31.11 to win the 50-yard breaststroke and break Lauren Sweet's school record of 31.46 set in 2010.

Also, the women's 200 medley relay team finished in second place at 1:55.06 while the men's 200 medley relay team was also second at 1:38.13.

Heading into the final day of action on Saturday, the Viking men are in fifth place with 289 points and the Long Beach women are sixth with 269 points.

Action resumes tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. with the women's 100-yard backstroke preliminaries.
