It is with heavy heart that the Long Beach City College Athletics Department announces the passing of current football student-athlete, Tim Johnson. Johnson passed away on Sunday morning, at the age of 19.
"Tim was a phenomenal teammate, a model Viking," said LBCC football head coach, Brett Peabody. "He worked hard, had a tremendous personality and often had the offensive linemen meeting room laughing. He cared for others, his education, and his family. This is a very sad day for our Viking family, as we have lost a first class young man."
Johnson was a freshman from St. Anthony High School in Long Beach. After high school, he attended Grand Canyon University and then came back home to become a Viking. The football team will wear Johnson's initials as decals on their helmets in his honor and frame his jerseys to have on their sideline the rest of the season.
