Baseball: Slide continues for Long Beach as Vikings fall 8-0 to Mt. SAC

The Long Beach City College baseball team continued its downward slide in the South Coast Conference standings as the Vikings suffered an 8-0 loss to visiting Mt. San Antonio College on Saturday at Joe Hicks Memorial Field.

The Mounties swept the three-game conference series to hand the Vikings their sixth loss over the last seven games. LBCC is now 11-13 overall and 6-6 in the SCC.

Long Beach managed just five hits in the game off four Mt. SAC pitchers and stranded nine runners on base. The Vikings had four hits over the first two innings but couldn't bring any runs in.

Mt. SAC (19-6, 10-2 SCC) totaled nine hits in the contest, including four for extra-base hits. Sophomore Edwin Santiago  (Jordan HS) took the loss for Long Beach after allowing six hits and four runs (three earned) over 5+ innings. He struck out four and walked one.

Freshman Ryan Dickison (Pacifica HS) went 1 for 3 with a double and sophomore Justin Moore (University HS, pictured) was 1 for 2 at the plate with two walks and a stolen base.

The Vikings return to action on Tuesday (Apr 3) when they travel to Irvine Valley College for a 2 pm non-conference game.
