Long Beach City College head coach Casey Crook is just one step away from his milestone 500th career victory after a 3-0 Viking win at Cerritos College on Tuesday. Crook gets his first crack at 500 on Thursday (Mar. 19) at 2:30 p.m. when the South Coast Conference series moves to LBCC's Joe Hicks Memorial Field.

On Tuesday, sophomore starting pitcher Julian Griego (Poly HS) scattered five hits in a complete-game effort over the Falcons to improve his record to 5-1 this season. He struck out seven and walked just one batter.

Long Beach got single runs in the fourth, seventh, and eighth innings for the win. Freshman Jackson Foss (Wilson HS) had a RBI double, freshman Aaron Fawcett (Los Alamitos HS) hit a sacrifice fly, and freshman Tai Teidemann's (Poly HS) bunt single scored the Vikings' final run.

Sophomore Tanner Levine (Millikan HS) went 2 for 3 with a walk and two runs scored to lead LBCC at the plate.

Long Beach is now 10-8 overall and leads the SCC standings at 6-1. With the loss, Cerritos dropped to 11-8 and 5-2 in conference play.
