Baseball: Long Beach gets No. 7 seed, hosts No. 10 Orange Coast in Regional playoff series

The 2015 South Coast Conference champion Long Beach City College Vikings have been named the No. 7 seed and will host the No. 10 seed Orange Coast College Pirates in a best two-out-of-three California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Southern California Regional playoff series. 

Game 1 is set for Friday, May 1 at 2 p.m. with Game 2 scheduled for 11 a.m. on Saturday (May 2). Game 3 would be played shortly after if necessary. All Regional playoff games will be played at LBCC's Joe Hicks Memorial Field.

Ticket prices for the CCCAA postseason tournament are $10 for general admission and $7 for college students, facutly, and staff with ID as well as seniors ages 60+ and kids. A two-day all-tournament pass is also available for $12.

Under head coach Casey Crook, the Vikings will be making their fourth appearance over the past eight seasons in the playoffs. Long Beach captured its second consecutive conference championship with a 15-6 mark in SCC play and is 20-16 overall heading into the postseason.

Long Beach looks to win its sixth state championship overall after last winning it 2006.

Defending state champion Orange Coast brings a 21-15 overall record into the Regional after finishing third in the Orange Empire Conference at 12-9. LBCC and OCC met in a three-game series early in the season with the Pirates taking two of three from the Vikings.

The winner of the Regional series will advance to a Super Regional playoff series on May 8-10.
