Long Beach City College Baseball head coach Casey Crook still stands tied with Joe Hicks as the college's all-time wins leader with 513 after the Vikings suffered a 5-2 non-conference loss at Santa Ana College on Saturday. Crook gets his next chance to break the record on Tuesday (Feb. 23) when the Vikings travel to Irvine Valley College for a 2 p.m. game.

In Saturday's loss, Long Beach, now 4-5 overall, couldn't hold an early 2-0 lead.

Sophomore Jackson Foss (Wilson HS) got Long Beach on the scoreboard in the second inning after he led off the frame with a solo homerun, his second of the season. In the fifth, sophomore Sean Williams (Wilson HS) lined a lead-off single and came in to score two batters later on a triple by freshman Tony Monroy (Warren HS).

Sophomore starting pitcher Tai Tiedemann (Poly HS) was cruising until Santa Ana rallied to tie the game with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth. Tiedemann picked up a no decision despite a good effort on the mound. He allowed two runs and five hits over six innings.

Santa Ana went on to pull out the win thanks to a three-run, eighth-inning. The Dons took advantage of three walks, an error, and just one hit to put together the game-winning rally.

Long Beach totaled seven hits in the contest with freshmen Tristin Chamberlain (Millikan HS) and Gavin Windes (St. John Bosco HS) collecting two each.
