Long Beach City College put together a formula for disaster on Saturday as the Vikings allowed a season-high 12 runs, collected just two hits, and made three errors in a 12-0 non-conference loss at Orange Coast College. The defeat evened Long Beach's record at 6-6 with just two games left before the Vikings open South Coast Conference play on March 8.

Orange Coast (9-6) starting pitcher Michael Giancone got revenge for an opening-day loss he suffered in Long Beach. He mowed down the Vikings on Saturday, striking out seven batters over eight innings while allowing hits to sophomore Erikson Fish (Sitka, AK/Sitka HS)and freshman Andrew Jaekel (St. John Bosco HS).

LBCC starter Tai Tiedemann (Poly HS) went six innings, allowing three runs and five hits as he was tagged with the loss.

Orange Coast led 3-0 before blowing the game open with four runs in the seventh and five more in the eighth.

The Vikings will look to bounce back from the tough defeat on Tuesday (Mar. 1) when they begin a two-game series with Antelope Valley College at home at 2 p.m. The series wraps up on Thursday at 2 p.m. at AVC in Lancaster.
