Sophomore starting pitcher Tai Tiedemann (Poly HS) allowed one earned run over eight innings while sophomore Jackson Foss (Wilson HS) and freshman Tony Monroy (Warren HS) both had perfect days at the plate to lead Long Beach City College to a 6-2 win at Pasadena City College on Saturday. The Vikings swept the three-game South Coast Conference series and currently sit in first place by themselves in the SCC standings at 3-0.

Tiedemann struck out seven while scattering four hits over eight innings. With the win, he improved to 2-2 overall.

Foss went 4 for 4 and had a RBI single as part of a five-run, fourth-inning for the Vikings. Monroy went 2 for 2 and drove in runs with a squeeze bunt and a hit by pitch with the bases loaded.

Freshman Vincent Byrd II (Sacramento, CA/El Camino HS) also had a big hit in the fourth, as he opened the scoring with a two-run double.

Freshman Jacob Zinger (Poly HS) closed out the victory with a perfect ninth inning.

Long Beach, 11-7 overall, returns to action on Tuesday (Mar. 15) at 2:30 p.m. when the Vikings open a three-game SCC series against El Camino College Compton Center.
