Long Beach Baseball Rides Strong Pitching in 3-1 Win over West LA

The Long Beach City college baseball team traveled to West Los Angeles College to face against the Wild cats this past Tuesday. The Vikings rode an excellent performance by sophomore starter Schuyler Hill (Long Beach, CA) en route to a 3-1 victory.

In his second start of the season, Hill rebounded to chuck seven frames of quality baseball. While scattering just four hits, the sophomore found himself in double-digit strikeouts by recording 10- a career high. He retired the side on three occasion while recording a strikeout in each of those innings.

Freshman reliever Chase Ambrose (Long Beach, CA) came in and slammed the door to record the save by tossing two innings and allowing just one hit, thus leading to a punchout.

Sophomore first baseman Vincent Byrd II (Sacramento, CA) got the Long Beach offense going in the top of the fifth inning by singling to right field, scoring left fielder Robert Funk (Lakewood, CA) and center fielder Ian Konek (Long Beach, CA).

Freshman shortstop Tyler Wilber (Los Alamitos, CA) tacked on an insurance run in the top of the ninth inning by singling home Konek en route to a 3-1 victory.
