Vikings Fall to Roadrunners in Conference

The Vikings fell to the Rio Hondo Roadrunners on Thursday afternoon 8-2. With the loss, the Vikings bring their overall record to 10-12 and 2-5 in the South Coast Conference.

Sophomore pitcher Jacob Alcorn (4-2) took his second loss on the mound with five runs on seven hits in the first two innings.

The Roadrunners were first on the board with three runs in the top of the first. They kept their offense momentum going with an RBI single in the top of the second and then added two more runs to command the lead 7-0 in the top of the fifth.

The Vikings took control in the bottom of the sixth by loading the bases with freshman left fielder Danny Gill and sophomore third baseman Reese Berberet. Then right fielder freshman Salvador Delgado Avila singled to right field to bring in Gill and Berberet to put the Vikings on the board.

The Roadrunners scored once more in the top of the eighth to win it all 8-2.

The Vikings will play again on Saturday, Mar. 17 at Rio Hondo College at 12 p.m.
