Baseball Closes Out Regular Season with Loss to LA Harbor

The Long Beach City College Baseball team closed out regular season on home turf with a 9-3 loss to LA Harbor College on Friday afternoon. With the loss, the Vikings move to 21-19 overall and 12-10 in the South Coast-South Conference.

Freshman pitcher Garrett Rennie (6-2) took his second loss on the mound with four runs on seven hits.

The Vikings were first on the board against the Seahawks in the bottom of the second inning with freshman second baseman Raul Gonzalez scoring off a Seahawk error.

LA Harbor bounced back with three runs in the top of the third to take the lead 2-1.

In the bottom of the third, sophomore third baseman Reese Berberet smashed a double to left field to bring in sophomore center fielder Val Stammler to tie the score. Next up, freshman catcher David Balboa hit a sacrifice fly to bring in sophomore left fielder Collin Perez to take back the lead 3-2.

The Seahawks kicked-up their offense and started to bring in the bats in the top of the fifth, and closed out the game with six more runs and took home the 9-3 win over the Vikings.
