Vikings Rally Against Mt.SAC for Ninth-Consecutive Win

 The Long Beach City College baseball team defeated the Mt. San Antonio College Mounties 10-7 for their ninth-consecutive win. With the win, the Vikings advance to 17-10 overall, and 11-2 in the South Coast Conference.

Freshman Pitcher Trevor Sutt (2-1) earned the win on the mound with holding the Mounties to three hits in the final two innings.

The Mounties were first on the board with a run in the top of the third inning. The Vikings then answered back with an RBI double from sophomore short stop Travis Aversa to score in freshman third baseman Noel Soto and tie the Mounties 1-1.

The Mounties came back in the top of the fifth with three runs to lead the Vikings 4-1. In the bottom of the fifth, the Vikings battled back and loaded the bases for Aversa, who then smashed a triple to left field to score everyone in to tie the game 4-4. Aversa then scored on a wild pitch to close out the inning with the 5-4 lead.

In the top of the seventh, the Mounties scored on a balk and then hit a two RBI single to lead the Vikings again 7-5.

The Vikings rallied again in the bottom of the seventh with RBI singles from sophomore left fielder Mark Stanford and sophomore first baseman Robert Barham. Sophomore catcher Brett Wells also added fuel to the fire with a two RBI double to seal the 10-7 conference victory for the Vikings.

The Long Beach City College baseball team will return to the field on Saturday, Mar. 30 at Grossmont College at 1 p.m.
