The Long Beach City College baseball team fell to the Chaffey College Panthers 4-3 on Tuesday afternoon at the Vikings Baseball Field.

Freshman pitcher Matthew Pinal (0-1) took his first loss on the hill with four runs on eight hits, while striking down six. Freshman pitcher Owen Kendrick also made his debut on the mound for just over two innings and didn't allow the Panthers to any runs and turned down three.

Freshman centerfielder Bryan Sanders got the Vikings on the board first with an RBI single to center field to bring in freshman second baseman Kamau Neighbors.

The Panthers rallied in the top of the second by adding three runs to take the lead from the Vikings at 3-1.

In the bottom of the second, freshman catcher Malik Clayton flied out to right field to score in Raul Garcia to close in on the Panthers 3-2.

Chaffey scored again in the top of the third, and Pinal had an RBI single to score in Sanders for one more run and end the game with the 4-3 loss.

The Vikings will return to the field on Thursday, Feb. 3 against LA Valley College.
