Vikings Fall In the Final Inning to Pierce

The Long Beach City College Vikings fell to the LA Pierce College Brahmas 9-4 on Friday afternoon in the second game of the SoCal Challenge Tournament. With the loss, the Vikings drop to 2-3 overall.

Freshman Owen Kendrick (0-1) takes his first loss on the hill with allowing the Brahmas to four runs on three hits.

The Brahmas scored the first two runs in the top of the fourth off an error from freshman shortstop Alex Seguine. LA Pierce hit an RBI single in the sixth inning and walked one in to lead the Vikings 4-0.

In the bottom of the seventh, freshman left fielder Raul Garcia homered to left field to score in freshman right fielder JT Mendoza and freshman first baseman Matthew Pinal, then freshman pinch hitter Edgar Lorenzo grounded out for an RBI to bring in Seguine and tie the game 4-4.

In the top of the ninth, the Brahmas rallied and scored five runs to take down the Vikings 9-4.

The Long Beach City College Vikings will be back on Saturday, Feb. 5 at Cerritos College for the final game of the tournament at 2 p.m.
