Vikings Sweep Cerritos with 11-4 Win

The Long Beach City College baseball team swept the Cerritos College Falcons 11-4 in the final game of the conference series. With the win, the Vikings advance to 17-11 overall and are 10-5 in the South Coast Conference.

Freshman pitcher Marcellus Henry (3-0) earned the win on the hill with only allowing the Falcons to one run on three hits, while striking down two. Freshman pitcher Matthew Pinal (Sv. 4) came in from first base to record the save and close out the game in the final three innings.

Cerritos took control of the board in the first three innings by scoring four runs and shut out the Vikings.

Then in the bottom of the third, the Vikings unleashed and tallied seven runs on the inning to surpass the Falcons 7-4.

Pinal was the catalyst in the third inning with a 3 RBI triple to start the rally. Then freshman shortstop Alex Seguine rounded it off with another 3 RBI triple. Pinal and Seguine both totaled 3 RBIs, two hits, and one run each for the game.

Freshman third baseman Jacob Santoyo then hit back-to-back RBI singles in the 4th and the 6th inning to extend the Vikings' lead to 9-4, and then freshman center fielder Moises Guzman finalized the 11-4 win with a 2 RBI double to center field.

The Vikings will be back in action on Tuesday, April 5 at LA Harbor College at 2:30 p.m.
