Vikings Triumph Over Rio Hondo in Conference Action

In another exciting conference showdown, the Long Beach City College baseball squad triumphed over the Rio Hondo College Roadrunners with a commanding score of 16-8 in the initial clash of their three-part series. With their seventh-consecutive victory, the Vikings maintain an unblemished record in the South Coast Conference, boasting an impressive 4-0 standing and an overall record of 13-3.
The Roadrunners were first on the board as they quickly notched three runs on the scoreboard. However, the Vikings countered fiercely, seizing the lead 4-3 in the bottom of the third inning and continuing their dominance throughout the rest of the game.
Pitcher Dylan Proost (3-0) showcased his mastery on the mound, limiting the Roadrunners to just three earned runs on four hits while striking out two batters.
Centerfielder Xander McLaurin delivered a stellar performance at the plate, going four-for-six with three runs, four hits, and three RBIs. Second baseman Reef Danner also stood out with three hits, two runs, and an impressive four RBIs. Designated hitter AJ Quezada showcased his grit, going a perfect four-for-four with three runs and two RBIs. The Vikings are primed for further action as they gear up to face off against Rio Hondo College for game two on Thursday, March 7, at 2:00 p.m.
