Luke Davis Signs with Philadelphia Phillies as Undrafted Free Agent
Vikings baseball's Luke Davis was signed by the Philadelphia Phillies as an undrafted free agent.
It was recently announced that baseball's Luke Davis was signed by the Philadelphia Phillies as an undrafted free agent.
Davis is a switch-hitting catcher, who emerged as the standout in the South Coast Conference, clinching the title of the Most Valuable Player. Davis boasted a formidable .410 batting average, racked up 25 RBIs, smashed 10 doubles, boasted an impressive .846 slugging percentage, and dominated the conference with 8 home runs.
"Luke Davis did a fantastic job of putting himself in a position to display his talents this year," said Head Coach Casey Crook. "He has professional tools and that showed in the great season he had at LBCC. He took those skills to the Northwoods League this summer and then had a great tryout with the Phillies at Citizens Bank Park. It has been a bumpy road for Luke in college but through those experiences, he has added maturity and focus to his skillset. This is the opportunity he has worked for and I think he is ready to make the most of it."
With the La Crosse Loggers in the Northwoods League this summer, Davis was hitting .259/.474/.435 in 34 games.
