The 2012 football schedule was recently released by the Southern California Football Association. Long Beach City College, now playing in the SCFA National Central Conference, will face one of the toughest schedules in the state.
Head coach Mike Reisbig and the Vikings are now in a conference that includes defending Southern California champion and perennial power Mt. San Antonio College, as well as undefeated Riverside City College. After a two-year break, LBCC will renew its rivalry with El Camino College and play for the Battle Axe.
Long Beach will host home games against Ventura College, Orange Coast College, Riverside, LA Harbor College, and Citrus College at Veterans Memorial Stadium, all with 1 pm kickoff times.
The season begins on Friday, August 31 when the Vikings travel to Fullerton College for a 7 pm game. LBCC home opener is the week following on September 8 against Ventura. Conference play begins September 22 at El Camino.
LBCC's closes the regular-season home schedule on November 3 against Citrus and closes out the season on November 10 at College of the Desert.
The postseason begins on November 17 with bowl games and SCFA playoff contests. The SCFA Championship is scheduled for November 24 with the CCCAA State Championship on December 8 at the site of the Southern California champion.
